SMC Laboratories, Inc. takes great care in handling its customers’ confidential information for privacy protection in accordance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information and other applicable laws and regulations.

Definition of Personal Information

For the purpose of this Privacy Policy (“this Policy”), “Personal Information” refers to personally identifiable information (including any information which can be easily matched with other information and thus can be used to identify certain individuals), including, but not limited to, the customer’s name, date of birth, address, email address and telephone number.

The purpose and scope in which the aforementioned Personal Information may be used is as follows:

No Personal Information collected by SMC Laboratories, Inc. in respect of the customer will be disclosed to third parties unless the customer’s prior consent is obtained.

Shared Use of Personal Information

SMC Laboratories, Inc. and its subsidiaries may share and use the customers’ Personal Information within the scope of the “Purpose of Use of Personal Information“ above. With regard to the handling of the customers’ Personal Information, the aforementioned companies that share and use the customers’ Personal Information have implemented measures that are equivalent to or more stringent than those implemented by SMC Laboratories, Inc. Of all such Personal Information to be shared for use, SMC Laboratories, Inc. shall be responsible for the management of Personal Information of the customers located in Japan.

Disclosure, Correction, Suspension of Use, etc., of Personal Information

With regard to the customers’ Personal Information, when the subject customer makes a request for notification of the purpose of use, disclosure, correction, addition or removal of items of such Personal Information, suspension of use, deletion, or suspension of provision to third parties, SMC Laboratories, Inc. shall, upon verifying the subject customer’s identification, accommodate such request in accordance with the provisions of the Act on the Protection of Personal Information.

How to whitelist SMC's email address

This is our guide for how to whitelist SMC's email address or domain. It explains in easy-to-follow steps, how to mark emails from SMC Laboratories' in your email program as trustworthy.

What does "to whitelist" mean?

To "whitelist" email addresses means allowing certain email addresses to always reach your inbox. When you whitelist someone, you're telling your email system, "I trust this sender - don't block or send their messages to spam."

Why it's useful:

  • Ensures important emails don’t get lost in spam.
  • Helps you stay organized and avoid missing key messages.

Different email provider, different whitelist method

Depending on the email service you use, the method of whitelisting is slightly different, so please follow the respective instructions below.

  • Outlook
  • OWA
  • Gmail

For Outlook Users

  1. Open Outlook
  2. Launch the Outlook application on your computer.
  3. Go to Junk Email Options
  4. Click the Home tab in the top ribbon.
  5. Select Junk → Junk E-mail Options.
  6. Open Safe Senders Tab
  7. In the pop-up window, click the Safe Senders tab.
  8. Add the Email Address
  9. Click Add.
  10. Type the email address you want to whitelist
  11. Enter "[name] @smclab.co.jp"
  12. Click OK.
  13. Apply and Close
  14. Click Apply, then OK to save your changes.

For OWA users

  1. Log into Outlook Web
  2. Go to outlook.com and sign in.
  3. Open Settings
  4. Click the ⚙️ gear icon in the top-right corner.
  5. Scroll down and click "View all Outlook settings."
  6. Navigate to Junk Email Settings
  7. Under Mail, select "Junk Email".
  8. Add Safe Sender
  9. In the Safe senders and domains section, click "Add".
  10. Enter "@smclab.co.jp".
  11. Press Enter.
  12. Save Your Settings
  13. Click Save at the bottom of the settings panel.

For Gmail users

  1. Log into Gmail
  2. Open Settings
  3. Click the ⚙️ gear icon in the top-right corner of Gmail.
  4. Then click "See all settings."
  5. Go to Filters and Blocked Addresses
  6. At the top of the settings page, click the tab called "Filters and Blocked Addresses."
  7. Create a New Filter
  8. Scroll down and click "Create a new filter."
  9. Enter the Email Address
  10. In the pop-up box, type "@smclab.co.jp" into the "From" field.
  11. Click "Create filter"
  12. This will take you to the next screen with filter options.
  13. Choose "Never send it to Spam"
  14. Check the box that says "Never send it to Spam."
  15. You can also choose other options like “Always mark as important” if you want.
  16. Click "Create filter" again to save
